PREVENTION & EARLY
INTERVENTION SERVICES

  • Counselling of clients seeking services for the first time.
  • Emergency placement of vulnerable children in temporary safe care.
  • Psycho-social support to children and
    families
  • Therapeutic groupwork programs with
    children and caregivers
  • Prevention, education and awareness
    programs in the Community.

FOSTER CARE SERVICES

  • Placement of vulnerable children with a family that may be related or unrelated to the children.
  • Social workers provide psycho-social support to the children, the foster parent and the natural parent(s).

ADOPTION SERVICES

  • Counselling of birthmothers. 
  • Screening of prospective adoptive parents. 
  • Placement of children in adoption both family and non-family related. 
  • Tracing of origins. 
  • Post Adoption Services

FAMILY REUNIFICTION SERVICES

  • Children placed in foster care and
    Youth Care Centres together with their
    biological families are provided with
    psycho-social support services. This is
    with a view to facilitating the return of
    children to their families within the
    shortest possible time. 

SERVICES TO CHILDREN PLACED AT CHILD & YOUTH CARE CENTRES

  • Children needing a structured environment and specialized treatment programs are placed at Child & Youth Care Centers.
  • The Society’s Social workers monitor these placements to ensure that the program meets the needs of the child.

EKHAYA LETHEMBA COMMUNITY HOME

  • Children between the ages of birth to 6
    years needing emergency safe care are
    accommodated at Ekhaya Lethemba Community Home.
  • The children are cared for by Child Care workers who provide for the basic needs of the children.
  • The children are accommodated for a period of 8-12 weeks during which time the social worker investigates the child’s family circumstances with a view to permanency planning and securing the best placement option for the child.
